Manic depressive disorder is no joke: it can result in death if people do not seek treatment. Often, folks may joke about being depressed or sad, but this is entirely different than if you have a true medical condition.

To suffers of manic depression, holding down a job for any amount of time can be a challenge and also have trouble maintaining friendships and sticking with things for a long time like school or hobbies.

Manic depressive disorder can take a person to a really bad place. People with manic depression often feel alone and misunderstood, and thus, when they find themselves in a particularly bad place don’t feel like there is anyone to turn to, suicidal thoughts and self-destructive behaviour is also common. If you or someone you know suffers from manic depression, then the early diagnosis of the symptoms can lead to the person getting the treatment they need. The following are some of the signs may indicate the onset of manic depressive disorder.

Extreme Mood Swings

If you or someone you care for is suffering from manic depressive disorder, then it is common for them to experience quick mood swings. They might go from the euphoria of feeling full of hope and joy, and in the blink of an eye they may find themselves trapped in the lows of depression where no one gets ! you and that the world will end soon. These rapid mood swings and happen instantly.

One minute you are on top of the world the next you are languishing in a pit of despair, and suffers are often unable to explain why. Because of this suffers of manic depressive disorder have a hard time maintaining friendships: they may go from sweet loving friend to lashing out at you over little things.

So if you find that you are never sure what mood you or someone you love will be in, then this may be a sign that you may have manic depressive disorder.

Difficulty Establishing a Consistent Sleep Pattern

People suffering from manic depressive disorder also may exhibit trouble establishing a constant sleep pattern! be it too much or too little. There may be times when they are awake and can’t sleep for days in a row, and other time where a person is listless and tired no matter how much sleep they get. This inability to establish and maintain a consistent sleep pattern can lead to job loss, and if left untreated for a long lime can affect a person’s health from not getting the sleep they need.
